SELF Student Success Coaching Reward Policy

SELF Student Success Coaching Reward Policy

Students who attend their first coaching meeting via phone or video may earn a $10.00 e-gift card redeemable to a variety of retailers through Tango Card. After the first meeting, you have the opportunity to schedule monthly meetings with your Succes Coach. For the next five monthly coaching meetings that a student attends, they can earn a $10.00 credit toward their SELF Loan balance for a maximum total of $50.00*.

E-Gift Card Process: After completion of the first coaching meeting, the Coach will update the student record indicating that the student has earned their $10.00 gift-card reward. Next, the student will receive an email from Tango Card (subject line: Enjoy Your Welcome to Coaching Reward) with a redemption link that brings them to a page where they can select the retailer they would like to redeem their gift card to. Once they confirm their selection they will receive another email with the reward redemption instructions.

Loan Balance Credit Process: For monthly coaching meetings 2-6, the Coach will update the student record to indicate that they have earned the $10.00 credit towards the loan balance. Once a year after the coaching timeframe ends, this information will be submitted to the SELF Loan servicer as a non-cash adjustment to the student account. Students could earn a credit ranging from $10.00-$60.00 depending on the number of meetings they attend and whether the $10.00 Tango card is available for the initial reward. * Students will receive communication regarding the amount of the credit applied to their loan balance once the process is complete. Only students with an outstanding loan balance are eligible to receive a loan credit. Those that have paid their balance in full will not be issued a refund.

Eligibility: Some students may be eligible for multiple years of coaching due to changing eligibility parameters each year but are only eligible to receive these incentives for their first six coaching meetings, regardless of the type of coaching they are engaged in.

Additional Details

A meeting is defined as an exchange between Coach and student that includes a substantive interaction resulting in the Coach's ability to advance the student forward in some way. Advancement could be different for each meeting, but the goal is to leave with an action plan to move you closer to your goal. Coaches will have the discretion to determine if a student interaction meets the standard for a meeting.

Welcome to Coaching Meeting: The first meeting is a formally structured 30-minute phone or video call with student and coach to provide introductions, define the role of a Success Coach, learn about the benefits of meeting with a Coach, gather preliminary information and schedule subsequent coaching meetings.

Additional Meetings: Students can continue to meet with their Success Coach to work on setting, defining and working towards academic and personal goals, navigating potential barriers to success and benefitting from accountability and thoughtful partnership conversations. For all subsequent meetings after the initial Welcome to Coaching Meeting, students can choose to meet with their coach via phone, video, text or email as long as the coach can provide meaningful interaction that helps advance the student as defined above. In order to earn credits towards an outstanding loan balance, meetings need to take place on a monthly basis. If students would like to meet more frequently and the Coach has availability that is encouraged, but students cannot earn loan credits for weekly meetings.

Gift Card Troubleshooting: if a student does not receive the email from Tango Card with the redemption link and they cannot locate the email in their junk or spam folders, they can reach out to their Success Coach to resend the link. Coaches will verify in the system that the link was sent to the correct email address and that it has not already been redeemed.

*If we are unable to provide an e-gift card to students for any reason, we will replace this first reward with an additional $10.00 credit towards their loan balance. In this instance, a student could earn a maximum total of $60.00 credited to their SELF loan balance.
